FOSTER CARE - CAN YOU HELP?

A local bird rehoming centre is at the moment looking for special foster homes for both pet birds and aviary birds.

If you would like to be considered as a potential foster carer, please remember that the first concern is for the bird's long-term welfare. For this reason, all applicants will be carefully assessed for suitability.

If you think you may be able to offer a long-term foster home, please consider carefully:

  • Do you have the time required?
  • Is your home suitable?
  • Will this arrangement suit the other members of your family?
  • Can you afford the costs involved?
  • Are you completely dedicated to the welfare of the animal / bird?

Long-term foster care is a huge commitment and we understand that even those who can truthfully answer “Yes” to all of the above questions can sometimes have a change of circumstances. If the carer is no longer in a position to keep the bird for any reason, we must be contacted and arrangements will be made.  On no account, however, can a bird be sold or passed on to a third party.

Legal action will be taken if the foster carer does not follow this procedure.
