Out and About around the Zoo...
Stepping out from the Tropical House you will find yourself in the first Bird Garden, where most of our exotic Parrots can be found.
We pride ourselves on having some pretty spectacular Parrots, from every corner of the globe within our collection.
We have a wide variety of Macaw species, including Blue & Gold's, Scarlet and Green Winged Macaws (the second largest species in the world). We have stunning Australian King Parrots and many different species of Cockatoos such as the Lesser Sulphur Crested, Citron Crested and Moluccan, all
of which are critically endangered in the wild
- and species from which we would ultimately like to create a successful breeding programme. We are also fortunate to have two distinct varieties of Hornbill, and a mixed aviary full of beautiful Budgerigars, often overlooked, as being a member of the parrot family!
Stepping into the second Bird Garden, you will find birds with a much more familiar appearance, here you will encounter Birds of Prey, many of whom are native to the UK and Northern Europe, a very wilful White Stork called Stanley, and a fabulous pair of Ravens
- which are without doubt the most intelligent birds to be found within the zoo
- and that's a scientific fact!
As well as birds, we also have plenty of mammals for you to meet! So please

and About around the Zoo....
