WHITE-CHEEKED TOURACO
Tauraco leucotis leucotis
HABITAT: Forest
STATUS: Not Threatened
DESCRIPTION:
White-cheeked Touracos have been recorded over 3000m above sea level in mountainous areas, but they are more normally found on the lower, wooded slopes.
They live on a diet of fruit and leaf matter. When excited they can raise their crest and nape feathers to make themselves look bigger and more impressive.
They can fly well but are often observed running along the branches of trees rather than using their wings, their long feet and claws helping with this.
